Poores of Acton Limited started selling to the building trade and general public over 185 years ago and is still going strong despite today's trend for huge multi national conglomerates.

It is still a family company with two branches, one at Acton in London, W3 and one at Chorleywood, Hertfordshire currently managed successfully by John Poore being the fourth generation of the family to be involved in the running of the business. The company continues to trade as a builders merchant and diy store competing very successfully with the "big boys" by its long term presence and efficient and friendly stores. The business also markets liquid petroleum gas (lpg) an increasingly economic and green fuel in these days of high oil prices and environmental awareness.
