25 December 2011 High Street set for welcome Christmas bonus

The UK’s High Streets are set to receive a much-needed boost this month, with a recent survey reporting the first positive performance since May.

The distributive trades survey from the Confederation of British Industry, which covers the first two weeks of December, has shown that more businesses experienced a growth in year-on-year sales than those experiencing a fall.

Meanwhile, a separate study has suggested that online retailers will see record spending by consumers over the festive period, with online sales expected to reach £186m on Christmas Day and more than £365m on Boxing Day, representing an increase of 12% on 2010.

With many online Christmas sales beginning as early as 23 and 24 December, electrical items, such as TVs, audio equipment, laptops and gaming machines tend to be among the items most commonly purchased, followed by domestic appliances, including kettles, toasters and vacuum cleaners.

We would like to wish all of our customers Season's Greetings, and best wishes for the New Year.
