15 October 2008 Small Business Week 2008 is launched

Entrepreneurs from across the country are this week assembling for the launch of the UK’s Small Business Week, which commenced on Monday 13 October.

During the week-long initiative a host of Government, business and independent organisations will gather to celebrate and champion the nation’s 4.6 million small businesses.

A series of discussions, web seminars and free advice sessions will take place in an attempt to encourage entrepreneurship and inspire business confidence and innovation.

Earlier this week event leaders urged small business owners to maintain ‘a stiff upper lip’ during the economic downturn.

Commenting on the event, Chairman of the British Chambers of Commerce, David Frost, said: ‘National Small Business Week 2008 demonstrates to small firms that they have a committed group of supporters with the resources available to help them prosper.

‘Together we are capable of making a real difference to the millions of existing small businesses. We can also create further opportunities for entrepreneurs and enterprising people looking to pursue their ambitions.’
