Audit and Assurance

Statutory Company Audits

For many businesses, an audit is a statutory requirement: an annual health check that provides the regulatory bodies with independent assurance that financial statements are accurate and compliant, and provides shareholders with an independent report on the profitability and financial status of the business. But it is also an opportunity to assess the effectiveness of internal systems and controls and review business planning. At the Everett Group we use the audit as a valuable tool to provide constructive business advice on how to operate your business more efficiently - and therefore more profitably - and how to plan future business growth and tax efficiency.

Our personal tailored approach to our clients ensures that we are already familiar with your business operations, and the economic climate of the sector in which you operate. Whether we operate as your "Financial Director", as your hands-on management accountant or as your value-added business advisor you can be sure that we see the audit as an opportunity to find out more about your business and how to help you achieve your future plans.

Our professionally prepared audit report enhances the image and reputation of your business and can be used as the basis for future finance applications as part of your business growth strategy. The report provides an accurate basis from which we can work with you to look at Key Performance Indicators and other performance measurement criteria. These can be used to compare all aspects of your business with similar businesses within your industry to identify your competitive edge and areas for improvement. With accurate financial data, you can be more confident in preparing measurable and achievable business plans, and with our help identify the most tax efficient strategies for investment and expenditure.

The Everett Group is registered for audit work by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales.

Charities

Charities have their own regulatory requirements in addition to any statutory regulations inherent to the business entity under which they operate. In particular they need to consider SORP legislation, case-law rules on VAT reclamation, tax-effective giving, trustee responsibilities, and in many cases an annual audit.

At the Everett Group we have a large client base of Charities and provide expert advice and support to Charity trustees in every area of charity finance. This includes either independent examination or a full audit as required. We can relieve your trustees of the responsibility of keeping up with the financial implications of the ongoing changes to the Charities Act legislation and the Charity Commissioner's guidance. We work with your charity to ensure that your accounts are accurate and meaningful and that any financial decisions are made with full understanding of the opportunities available to your charity within the boundaries of the current legislation.

Friendly Societies

Friendly Societies are generally mutual organisations whose main purpose is to provide financial assistance to its members in periods of adversity and to provide life assurance. As insurance businesses they must conform to standards on governance and financial resources. Their regulation is also entering a period of change as a result of the Myners review. We will work with your society to ensure that your accounting procedures and any required audits both fulfil the increasing regulatory requirements and provide your society with meaningful accurate data on which to base future decisions. Law Society Accountant's Reports

We have a large client base of Solicitors and an in-depth understanding of the requirements of both the Solicitors' Accounts Rules and the Accountant's Report Rules. You can therefore have full confidence in our implementation of the specialist supplementary audit procedures and in our production of the reporting required by the Law Society. RICS Accountant's Reports

We have a large client base of Chartered Surveyors and are therefore fully conversant with the accounting procedures that Chartered Surveyors must follow and the specialist supplementary audit procedures and reporting required by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors. Compliance Audits

In addition to company statutory audits, we can provide specialist internal audits; for example an independent due diligence audit to prepare your business for flotation, or for consideration by venture capitalists.
